Three hours sleep last night, nothing to see. I'm done. Going to walk it and see if I have any luck. Enjoy your turkey!
I'm starving and it's deadsville out here. Should've slept in.

Happy Thanksgiving while I'm writing from a deer stand!

I think she's finally gone. She ran in under my blind.
SHE'S BACK!
15 minutes left before dark.
She just left. I sat with the rifle ready for an hour thinking she was bringing me a buck.

Poor doe is back.
Caught these guys having a feast on leftovers.

Back in the black stand. I'm looking for that buck.
So this afternoon, midday, I took my walk and added SD cards to cams. Right near black stand a doe was 20 yards away from me! The same doe that was hanging with the one I shot. I had my rifle with me. A perfect shot. We just looked at each other. I moved on and left her. Crockett had the same incident with her today. We didn't have the heart to take her. She seemed out of sorts.
Paul Bunyan scored his first squirrel.

Just another cool picture. Never used this gun before. It is crazy cool.

So this morning I'm drinking my coffee and I keep smelling this musky smell. I go to eat breakfast and lick off the new hog sausage off my fingers when I get this BITTER taste in my mouth. I mean bitter! I smell my fingers and its like I dipped them in something. I washed and washed and washed. It will not come off. I used the deer spray to take away the odor. Nothing gets this stuff off! Crockett then begins to tell me he thinks its the deer gland off the back leg that I held while lifting it into the truck. And I liked it off my fingers!!!!!
Took doe to deer processor in Tyler County.

Looks are deceiving.
I have up. I didn't see one darn squirrel.
Squirrel hunting

Waiting on some squirrels.

Little doe grazed with her.She fell about 70 yards from stand. Huge girl. Little doe came back in the area looking around.

Just shot a doe! I see her in the road.
Getting up to head out on this COLD morning. I've had a sore throat all week. A nice doe will make me feel better. This weekend is the last weekend we can take a doe.

Coming down from the stand and missed putting my hand on this booger. I'm thinking would've hurt.

Darn this wind! That spike at 7 a.m. probably smelled me in the breeze.
Ole showed up! For two seconds!
Beautiful. Wind is ferocious still.

Ugh, so warm this a.m. Crockett decided that this weather was not hunting weather so he drove me to my stand and went to work on property.

Good 15+ mile winds coming through here, ridiculous!
Waiting

And waiting

So bored waiting
Out again in 2nd food plot, nice cozier stand, but the wind is killer. I'm sure it'll be a dud, but at least I can say I tried.

Crockett says a doe is on my way.
Well so far nothing. I'm not sure I can do much more of this. I'm still having major back issues, and not seeing a thing is making it more painful. My two teenagers are begging me to bag one so we can head on home early. No cable, no phones, nothing to disturb them.

On another note, these squirrels are evil. They make such a racket in the woods making me think something is coming. I'm getting antsy people!!
This was taken last weekend. One of Crockett's ex-relatives shot it across the street from our property. They only have 14 acres. Needless to say I was jealous. I hate to think it was one of ours that left the yard for a bit. Looks like our old guy but I doubt it. Okay, okay, I'm really jealous.

Crockett text me saying a young spike is coming my way. He's saying legal but not a shooter.
I'm in.

Huge spider trying to get on my bag!

I text Crockett telling him this is ridiculous that we need to go on a real hunt every year. To sit on our property with 115 acres and maybe 10 deer; they can be anywhere! We are only covering maybe 2 acres. I want the opportunity to see some real deer whether I take them or not. Beautiful day up here though.

Welcome to The Fall time change, love it. I'm in with 40 minutes to spare. I'm sitting in last nights rain, not happy. Give me a buck and who cares!

Crockett just came by. He asked if I was staying. I was like sure! Hope I don't get struck by lightning. Only 45 minutes left until sunset. Hope rain stays away until then.
Wind jacked up to 20+, crazy. Might have to end early.
Storms coming. Hopefully, I'll still be able to get out in the morning.

Crockett's telling me three more showed. Such a bragger.
Crockett has a doe in his stand. Me, nothing. He told me not to shoot a doe, grrr. Not that I'm seeing anything.
In the stand. It's thundering out, and looks like rain. Luigi is back.

His little tongue sensing the air.

Going for a walk changing SD cards out. Almost stepped on him.

Crockett has 4 does in 2nd food plot. He told me not to take a doe today and use them as decoys. Honestly, I don't want to be in this stand in the winter waiting on a deer.
Don't know if you can see it, but there is a low lying fog coming in. Pretty cool.

First two shots heard.
I'm in. Sunrise at 7:38.

Just got to Broken Road. Rifle season is here! Full moon tonight. I bet not much will be moving in the morning. I'm not feeling well today. On some meds. Hope I can last in stand with a UTI. I know TMI.
