Supposed to rain 80 percent tomorrow so mo sense staying. Maybe we'll hunt on our Columbus lease, 20 minutes from the house called Double D's.

Came for the day to the ranch, no kids. Thought we'd hunt. We had no tim left after chores. I hunted ant hills and destroyed them. I don't know what it is about ant hills but I love them. New York ants are quite different from southern ants. We used to play with them as kids in our hands. Texas ants are not our friends.

Lit the cattails that have taken over our lake. Went up blazing. Smelled like burnt popcorn. Now we have blackened cattails. They don't burn to the ground. I would've thought otherwise.

Had the new horse, PJ's feet done. Two other horses will come back tomorrow from the riders house. We hope to have Jack sold.

His pinchers were huge! I think I flicked him off. Don't know if I did. Can't find him. I believe it's coming off this darn tree. Omg, two does!

Someone should be making a deer stand with a lumbar in the seat. oh, the pain, the pain.

I'm in. At lakeside food plot. Last three times saw nothing in tri-pod sanctuary, so I thought I'd try something different. Maybe it'll change my luck. Only this weekend and next to shoot a doe. Can't shoot one after the 27th of this month.

I'm in....MY NEW TRI-POD TREE STAND! My knee did well. Got scary the last two steps. You can tell a storm is brewing somewhere, the wind is BAD! The only good thing is that this area is not open, fully wooded. So we just might see something.

Crockett Got One

Crockett left this afternoon.Went on the stand until dusk. Was about to get off and noticed a black something go across the food plot in the black stand. Viewed through scope to find Big Daddy hog. Shot him. Crockett doesn't know how to send a picture of the large animal. He said it filled the tractor's bucket. Will check it out tomorrow and send picture. Kind of eerie to know they're coming out at dusk when we're just about to get off stand. Makes for a possible confrontation.

Congrats Dee! I love my scope and hope to get out there tomorrow afternoon and a Sunday hunt.

Left with no deer this weekend. Little buck never came by. Hog trap was empty. Crockett said the smell of the newness needs to go away before try attempt entry. We will not try to trap any while we're away for the week. Right now Crockett and the two youngest boys are fishing. Tristan, 10, caught a 3 pound bass. I'm resting the leg. Got a few good cam pictures I will post this week.

Three disadvantages to today's hunt.

1-hate ground blinds, can't see a darn thing through these nets. Love a nice stand in a tree where I'm out of the way.

2-this stupid single pole rifle holder. Went through four stores(Gander & Academy), no tri-pods. Never had to use one of these.

3-need I say more. Hopefully, I won't be stiff after this. Plus, I WANT to search the woods if I get something!

I think Checkers has been geting busy with Big Daddy here. Look at those babies! They are destroying all of our food plots, rooting up our roads to bathe in. We hopefully will be catching some this weekend! And I'm going to hunt!! Even with a bum knee. Going to have to be in a ground blind. Drats!

My knee surgery took a turn for the worst and have been unable to get anything done with these crutches. I very much apologize for no Big Bucks Question on Wednesday. Nor did I get to go to BRR due to the surgery. I was not aloud to drive long distances. I have not had the energy to post cam pictures yet but promise to try tomorrow. Crockett was able to go up for the day and brought me back some more SD cards. I WILL be back.

Unbelievable Product

I swear, Crockett put out C'mere Deer Buck Juice (smells like vanilla), and literally multiple deer spent over two hours at a plot that wasn't even corn fed. Now if I could only get into my new stand maybe I can get something with my bow.

To Hunt or Not to Hunt, That Is The Question

Oh, I am so hunting. Knew surgery was Monday. Doing well, still on crutches. I won't be able to get into my favorite 16 foot deer stand, so I will have to ground blind it, which I HATE. Hopefully I am not doing too much and stick myself with an arrow than the deer. Off meds but still quite light headed. Will head out early tomorrow so try to keep up with the feeds.

The fletching which is under the blue diamond decal directly under the first pink part, balances the weight of the arrowhead to prevent the arrow from tumbling end-over-end in flight.

Million dollar question-do I shoot a buck or doe with my bow? There is a limit in Tyler county. Do I choose to get anything just to say I got something with my bow? And before Crockett does?

A couple times so far, my heart was pounding. Thought I heard a big one. But honestly, deer are like magical ballerinas. One moment nothing, and then they pop into sight. Deer really make no hoof sound in the woods, they're so light on their feet. It's those big ass crows flying from tree to tree!
